Sword Stained With Royal Blood is also Wuxia genre movie, which adapted from the Chinesse Novel written by Louis Cha (Jin Young).Took setting on Ming Dynasty, the story is about a young man named Yuen Chengzi, he became an orphan because his family is wrongly executed by the Emperor. Yuen Chengzhi was sent Mu to Renqing, and Mu Renqing raised him become a swordsman. He discover Golden Snake Sword and martial arts manual which belonged to Xia Xueyi or also known as Golden Snake Sword, and also met Wen Qingqing, the daughter of Xia Xueyi who love him so much, and after the tragedy of Wen family, Wen Qingqing follows Yuen Chengzhi. Yuen Chengzi also met Ah Jiu, the princess also the daughter of Chongzen, who was executed Chengzhi’s parents. Qingqing is the woman who can get jealous easily, and she’s very jealous with Ah Jiu.

This version is remake the older version which broadcast on On this version Bobby Dou Zhi Kong played as Yuen Chengzi, he did a good job, the older version was played by famous actor : Felix Wong, which also play Guo Cin on older version of Legend of the Condor Heroes. The Sword Stained With Royal Blood is one of my favorite wuxia series, and when I bought it when I found this newest version, and instantly fall in love with Bobby Dou At that time I don’t really know about chinesse movie star, which I taught his name is Hu Ge (who played Guo Cin on Legend of The Condor Heroes 2008 version) Played as Wen Qingqing is Eva Huang, and Sun Fei Fei as Ah Jiu.

Fox Volant of The Snowy Mountain

Fox Volant of The Snowy Mountain of also known as The Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain is another story created by Louis Cha aka Jin Young. The story tells about Hu Fei, son of Hu Yi Dau who looking for his father murderer, his father Hu Yi Dau is killed at the duel with Miao Ren Feng, he killed because there’s a poison on Miao Ren Feng weapon. After his father dead, young Hu Fei raised by his father servant, he grew up and searching for Miao Ren Feng to pay what he’s done. When he met Miao Ren Feng, he cannot believe that his father was killed by Miao Ren Feng, and he also met Miao Ren Feng’s daughter, Miao Ruo Lan who fall in love with Hu Fei. Hu Fei grows as strong, handsome and brave warrior and could stole women heart, a doctor named Cheng Ling Su also deeply in love with Hu Fei, but Hu Fei loves Yuan Zi Yi woman in purple dress. Can Hu Fei be together with woman hi loves ? and Can he take revenge to Miao Ren Feng ? Find out on this series, but if you’re curious, I’ll give you the spoiler below.

When I was a child, I watched previous version of this story. It played by Ray Leung. The story of this version is little bit different than the older version, but it’s still good. This version is broadcast on 2006. Nie Yuan who played as Hu Fei is really handsome !! and you’ll see the pretty girls too, Athena Chu played as Yuan Zi Yi, Gillian Chung played as Ching Ling Su (I don’t really like Gilian Chung – after and before her scandals with Edison Chen) and Ady An played as Miao Ruo Lan. Ady An also casts for the newest version of Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre (Yi Thian Tu Long Ji) 2009 as Princess Zhao Min.

Though Hu Fei loves Yuan Zi Yi, he cannot be together with her, because Yuan Zi Yi dead because of poison. The girl who together with Hu Fei is Miao Ruolan. The doctor, Ceng Ling Su also dead by the poison, she gives the medicine a (seed that must be plant)to Hu Fei, but Hu Fei must wait for until it grow, but because of Ruolan mistakes, the plant was dead and cannot save Zi Yi.

The Four Constables

The Four or also known as Four Great Constables is the wuxia series that I watch recently, the story is based on the novel by Wen Rui An. The story took setting on Song Dynasty, and focused on the Four Great Constable which recruited by Master Chu Kot, the leader of Constable Bureau to uphold justice, and punished the wicked. The Four constables has their own characteristics, the first is Mou Ching or also known as Heartless, he raised by Master Chu Kot, and he is very smart and also master of secret weapons. The second constable is Tit Sau or Iron Fist, he has strong hands and raised by poor family. The third constable is Jui Ming or also known as Chaser, he can run very fast, and his character is playful, and the last constable is Lang Huet or also known as Cold Blood, an orphan who raised by the wolf, formerly he was an assassin, then he saved and recruited by Master Chu Kot. Four of them worked together to solve many mysteries. The other characters are Song Tze Yen, a doctor who also the spy. Lam Yeut Fei, the daughter of Lam Po Tin, she became lover of Tit Sau. Lau Piu Seut the bureau keeper, also Tit Sou’s Family, his father Tit Fu and his sister Tit Yau Dung. Tit Fu is played by Law Lok Lam, he is the cast of Cold Blood of previous version of The Four (1985). I think this is very good series and recommended for you if you like wuxia. For girls, maybe one of the constables would sole your heart, they are handsome, they are Raymond Lam as Mou Ching (Heartless), Kenneth Ma as Tit Sau (Iron Fist), Sammul Chan as Jui Ming (Chaser) and Ron Ng as Lang Huet (Cold Blood). For female character, there Kate Tsui, Miss Hong Kong 2004 Pageant who played as Song Tze Yen, Selena Li as Lam Yeut Fei. I bought this series several months ago, but I watch it recently, it contains 25 episodes. This version broadcast on 2008, and there’s also another version of the Four, broadcast on 2003 titled Four Marshals, I haven’t watch that version, I search on YouTube but I think this version is better though cast of one the Marshals is my favorite actor : Nie Yuan, who played as Heartless. The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber (Yi Tian Tu Long Ji) 2009. Finally, the newest version of The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber, the third part of Jin Yong (Louis Cha) trilogy is released. This making of this film took for about 5 months period. The main character of this movie Zhang Wu Ji is played by Deng Chao, and Ady An played as Zhao Min,
and Liu Jing played as Zhou Zhi Ruo. On previous version of Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber. On 2003 version Zhang Wu Ji is played by Alec Su which also played as Zhang Cui Shan. The previous version is good.

On 2008 the first part of the trilogy, Legend of Condor Heroes was released, Hu Ge and Ariel Lin played as a legendary couple , that was good version. I write a review about Legend Of Condor Heroes 2008. In this film (Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber) Liu Shi Shi, who played as Mu Nien Ci on Legend of Condor Heroes also take a role, she play as Yellow Robe Lady, it’s a really different character with Mu Nien Ci. The Shinjuku Incident is a movie by Jackie Chan, which scheduled to release on Asia 2nd April 2009. The story is about a Chinese tractor mechanic named Steelhead (Jackie Chan). He goes to Tokyo illegally to search his girlfriend Xiu Xiu (Xu Junglei) with his friend named Jie (Daniel Wu). Steelhead found that Xiu Xiu already married to Eguci (Ken Watanabe) a Japanese Yakuza Leader. Steelhead decides to remain in Japan and work as a killer for Eguchi. The Shinjuku Incident took setting on early 1990.

Young Warriors of Yang Clan

I just finished watching a very good wuxia movie titled : Young Warriors of Yang Clan (Shao Nian Yang Jia Jiang) , this is the story about Yang Family. Yang Family has 7 sons and 1 daughter. The name of the son is using the order of number on chinnese language, for the son is using “Lang” = the first song called : Yang Yi Lang (yi means one), second named Yang Er Lang (Er means two), third son named Yang San Lang (san means three), fourth son named Yang She Lang (she means four), fifth son named Yang Wu Lang (wu means five), sixth son named Yang Liu Lang (liu means six), seventh son named Yang Chi Lang (chi means seven) and the younger sister named Yang Pa Mei (pa means eight) and “Mei” is the named for daughter. This story took the setting on Sung dynasty and the battle between Sung and Liao. Yang Ye (the father of Yang’s brother) is a great general of Sung and the sons of Yang also became the Sung’s soldiers who against Liao, the sons of Yang who became a soldiers are : Yang Yi Lang, Yang Er Lang, Yang San Lang and Yang Wu Lang. Yang She Lang is disappear when he was a child during the war against Liao. The Liao Soldiers leads by Great General of Liao : Yelu Xie. Yelu Xie was beaten by Yang Wu Lang on a duel and it leave a deep malice to Yang Family.

Characters

This is not one man show movie, every casts has strong character with their uniqueness, and this movie is not only from one side viewing (Sung Dynasty) but also from Liao point of view. We’ll also see the good side of Yelu Xie as Liao, and actually the main antagonist character is not Yelu Xie, it’s Pan Ren Mei, from Sung.

Yang Wu Lang, the fifth son of Yang who beat Yelu Xie on a duel and also fall in love with the same girl with Yelu Xie, Miss Kuan who the next became Yang Wu Niang. The wives of Yang’s brothers is using Niang after the number of the Son. (eg : the wife of Yang Yi Lang called Yang Yi Niang, the wife of Yang Er Lang called Yang Er Niang).

Yang She Lang, the fourth son of Yang who disappear during the war against Liao when he was a child is not mentioned at the beginning of this series. He appears when Yang Ye announced Yang Soldiers recruitment.

Yang Liu Lang, the sixth son of Yang who has many tricks and could invented many things, he’s also divined as Liao destroyer.

Yang Chi Lang, the seventh son or the youngest son of Yang. He’s accused of killing Pan Bao, the only son of Pan Ren Mei. At the first time he has relationship with Xiao Lin, a Liao girl who has hypnotized ability. Xiao Lin is commit suicide because her sister and her friend is sentenced to death by Taizong Emperor. Then he mets Tu Ching Er, who has same face as Xiao Lin.

Yelu Xie, Liao’s grea t general who has scar on his face caused by Yang Wu Lang. Actually he is a romantic person and from the Liao’s point of view, he’s the person who love his country and Liao’s people. He has great ambition to defeat Yang Family.

Pan Ren Mei, an Emperor officer who has deep malicious to Yang Family, his son Pan Bao was dead on the duel against Yang She Lang and Yang Chi Lang, actually his son is death because he consumes drug. He’s using the death of the son to defeat Yang Family.

Yang Ye, the head of Yang Family is a great general who loved by the Emperor, he has high dedication to the Emperor and for the Sung dynasty. With his wife, She Sai Hua he raised their eight children. Sometimes he looks that he more cared to the Emperor than to his family.

The Women, every Yang Son has a love story with a woman, Yang Liu Lang with the weapon maker Miss Kuan (next Yang Wu Niang) , Yang She Lang with a doctor Miss Luo (next Yang She Niang), Yang Liu Lang has a great adventure with his crush, Princess Chai (next Yang Liu Niang), He also loved by Pan Ren Mei’s daughter, Pan Yin, and the young Yang Chi Lang has love experience with Xiao Lin and then he met Tu Ching Er (next Yang Chi Niang). Other character is the little Yang Pa Mei, the youngest and the only sister of Yang, she’s very clever and love her brothers.

For me, it’s very good wuxia series. Actually I ever watched the story about Yang Family titled Yang’s Saga, it has similarity with this series. I see many famous actors and actresses who plays at Yang Saga (Andy Lau, Tony Leung, Miu Kiu Wei, Felix Wong, Chow Yun Fat, etc) the differences between two stories is Yang Saga contains the story about god and godess. There’s also the other version of this movie titled Warriors of The Yang Clan, played by Alec Su,year released 2004. But 2006 or this version is better. I watch the beginning of 2004 version, I saw that this story is only focused to Yang She Lang. Before I watch this series I watched Legend of the Condor Heroes / She Diao Ying Xiong Zhuan 2008 version (I already made review about it) many cast also played at LOCH such as : Hu Ge played as Yang Liu Lang and Guo Cin, Justin Yuan played as Yelu Xie and Yang Kang, Liu Shi Shi played as Yang Shi Lang and Mu Nien Ci, Weng Jia Ming played as Yang Ye and Yang Xie Tin, Li Jie played as Emperor Taizhong and Ouyang Ke, Deng Li Min played as Pan Ren Mei and Ke Zhen E (one of the Seven freak from the South), also Ba Yin as Tien Ling and Temujin. Yang Liu Lang and Guo Cin is two different character played by Hu Ge, but Yelu Xie has similarity with Yang Kang.

This wuxia series, The Young Warriors of The Yang Clan is recommended to watch. It has the sequel titled Young Heroine tells about Yang’s wife who became a widows after their husbands was dead on the war against Liao. Yang Shi Lang was dissapeared (again) and lost his memories then he became the husband’s of Liao Princess, Yang Wu Lang who feel guilty because he’s not take a part of the war against Liao became a priest and leave his wife. Yang Chi Lang also dead on the war against Liao. Yang Heroine tells about the grown up Yang Pa Mei. I haven’t watch that series and honestly I’m not interested to watch.

Legend of The Condor Heroes ( 2008 version )

Based on the novel of Chin Young aka Lois Cha, Legend of The Condor Heroes is the first part of the trilogy. This story took setting on Song Dynasty. It’s about sworn brother : Guo Xiao Tian and Yang Tie Sin, they lived peacefully at the village. One day a tao priest named Qiu Chu Ji came, and give name to their unborn children (Kuo Cin and Yang Kang) the name of the children carved to the daggers given by Qiu, and because of deep relationship between Guo Xiao Tian and Yang Tie Sin, they promise if their chidren born with the opposite gender, they will be married and they’ll became sworn brother if they born on same gender.
Because the fight with Jin soldier, this neighborhood is broken, Guo Xiao Tian killed during the fight, Yang Tie Sin disappeared, their wives Li Ping (Guo Xiao Tian’s wife) finally gives birth to Guo Cin at the desert and raised up Guo Cin at Mongolia under the care of Genghis Khan. Bao Xi Ruo (Yang Tie Sin’s wife) stayed Wanyan Hung Lie place. Wanyan Hung Lie is the Sixth prince of Jin.

Guo Cin and Yang Kang
Guo Cin grew up on Mongolia under the care of Genghis Khan, and learn Kung Fu from Seven Freaks, his chilhood friend si Genghis Khan son Tolui and daughter Hua Zheng. Hua Zheng was in love with Guo Cin. Genghis Khan gives Hua Zheng to Guo Cin to became his fiancee.
At his childhood time, Guo Cin was killed Chen Xuan Feng by accident and it makes him always got a nightmare and cannot be concerntate of learning Kung Fu. It makes the dissapointment of his teachers.
Yang Kang Grew up on Wanyan Hong Lie Place with and known as Wanyan Hong Lie’s son Wanyan Kang, he learn martial art from Qiu Chu Ji and also from Mei Chao Feng.

Guo Cin and Huang Rong

Guo Cin and Yang Kang Lovers
When Guo Cin back to Song territory, he met Huang Rong, at the first time they met Huang Rong dressed like a beggar and do a troubles at the town, she impressed with a kindness of Guo Cin, and after that they together begin the journey and meet many people and many troubles. Huang Rong is the daughter of Huang Yao Zhi the lord of Peach Blossom Islang (Tu Hua Dou). She is very naughty but very clever, she has photographic memory ability that she got from her late mother.
Yang Tie Xin who saved from the fighting with the Jin adopted a daughter named Mu Nian Ci and change his name to Mu Yi, he wanted to marry his daughter to the person who could defeat Mu Nian Ci at martial art. Yang Kang who doesn’t know about his real father joined an win that competition, he could defeat Mu Nian Ci and took her shoe, but he didn’t want to marry her. But actually Yang Kang fall in love with Mu Nian Ci.

The other Characters
Hong Qi Kong, the chief of Beggar Clan became Guo Cin Matrial Art teacher and teach him Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palms to him, and passed the chief position to Huang Rong.
Zhou Bo Tong, became Guo Cin sworn brother, he live at the cave on Peach Blossom Island, he meet Guo Cin when Guo Cin go to Peach Blossom Island, he teach Guo Cin Jiu Yang Zhhen Jing (Nine Yin Manual).
Ou Yang Feng aka Lao Tu or Western Venom is the father of Ou Yang Ke, he has ambition to learn Nine Yin Manual and finally became insane because Huang Rong and Guo Cin tells the fake one, and his son Ou Yang Ke is killed by Yang Kang because he loves Mu Nian Ci.

This is good movie, Ariel Lin plays Huang Rong very well, before the 2008 version, I also watch previous version which the character of Guo Cin played by Julian Cheung and Huang Rong played by Athena Chu, but I think Ariel Lin is better than Athena Chu. Before I watch this version I think no one could replace Barbara Yung to play the character of Huang Rong. I like when she called Guo Cin (Cin Ge Ge !!!) Justin Yuan did very well too, he could play the ambitious Yang Kang. I think Justin Yuan is good actor, he could play many characters (watch Liao Zhai – A Pao).
There’s some differences between old version (1983) with 2008 version. Honestly I watch the 1985 version several times, because at the first time I watch I was a little kids and doesn’t know whats the story about. I re-watch the 1983 version when I was on junior highschool and watch again on senior highschool. The next version I only watch once so I cannot talk much.
In this version we could find a good side from Ou Yang Ke, also Wanyen Hong Lie, not only as the father of Yang Kang, but also as the Jin. I impressed at the episode when together Wanyen Hong Lie, Mu Nian Ci and Ou Yang Ke fight the Mongol. We not only see a drama but also the martial art technique which presented in this series.

Ariel Lin as Huang Rong

The Sequel, the second part of the trilogy : Return of Condor Heroes
It tells about Yang Guo, Yang Kang and Mu Nian Ci son, in this story Guo Cin married to Huang Rong and has daughter who cut Yang Guo’s arm. I don’t really like the story : Return of Condor Heroes and haven’t watch the new version yet. I watch the Andy Lau version which is so long long time ago.

Strange Tales : Liao Zhai Xiao Cui

I remember I buyed this series because I see Jimmy Lin pic on the cover, but when I started to watch, I already bored on first chapter, because it talk about Hell, there’s Hell King, Hell Officers, and talk about chinesse mystique. But now, I watch it again and not stopped, and the story became more interesting. This series is not contain one story, but several stories, it’s like the chinese version of Tales From The Crypt but longer. When I watched first story (I don’t know that this series contain several stories) I wait for Jimmy Lin and wondering what character he might play, after the first story end I realized that there’s another stories after the first one, and the second story, Jimmy doesn’t appear yet, and I think Oh Dear….Jimmy only appears in one story ? Oh, no, it means I must watch the other stories without my favorite star ? Finally, Jimmy Lin appears on the third story, it’s about Xiao Cui, a fox spirit (read more on my review about Xiao Cui), and I don’t need to be dissapointed, because on the other stories I could see Hu Ge and the cute TAE, TAE….he’s very handsome….I watch him on the sequel of Legendary Sibling, the title maybe : Twin Warriors, the other star that I know is Rainie Yang (who played the best friend of Sanchai on Meteor Garden), Justin Yuan (Legend of Condor Heroes 2008 as Yang Kang)

First Story : Lu Pan
The story is about two Hell Officers (Lu Pan and his friend) who bet for a man named Zhu Er Dan, who is brainless, dumb and silly man, but has kind heart. They bet if they replace Zhu Er Dan’s heart with other so he’ll turn into smart person, he’ll also turn to good person into evil one, Lu Pai bet to he’ll never change, but his friend said other.
So, they replace Zhu Er Dan’s heart and when he woke up in the morning he’s became smart person. The story it’s about Human Nature that never fullfiled and never say enough. Zhu Er Dan gradually became mean and evil person, he fall in love with pretty girl named Xiao Man who’s the fiancee of poor guy named Bai Yang, which is the object of unjustice. Xiao Man died on the way to meet Bai Yang, Zhu Er Dan watch it and asked Lu Pai to replace his wife’s head into Xiao Man’s. Zhu Er Dan’s wife formerly is ugly girl but kind, diligent and loves her husband, replacing her head doesn’t change her personality, but makes her cannot stand with her husband attitude.

End of this story (if you didn’t want to get the spoiler, don’t read it) :
The story closed with the happily life of Bai Yang and Xiao Man, and Zhu Er Dan’s wife died when she give birth to their first son, which the reincarnation of Lu Pan (this is the punishment for Lu Pan of breaking hell’s rule)

Makes me confuse, why replacing heart not replacing brain ?

Second Story : Painted Skin (Mei Xan Niang)
It tells about man named Wang An Xi,which is genious at art, his paintings could looks alive. He has wife who has close connection to the emperror. Wang An Xi has the past that not everyone know including his wife. He ever has relationship with woman named Mei Xan Niang. She was died because of fire, and became a ghost and come back to haunt Wang An Xi. I don’t really like this story, some ideas in this story is confusing.

Don’t read this, it could be a spoiler :
Things that make me confuse is, why ghost can be fool by man? When Wang An Xi act that he doesn’t love his wife anymore, and he also could make Mei Xan Niang drunk, but it’s ghost story, anything could happen.

Xiao Cui

Third Story : Xiao Cui
Finally, my Jimmy Lin appears !!!!!! this story is about a man who saved Fox Demon, the Fox promises that she’ll help this man to pay his kindness. For about 46 years later, this man who has son with mental disability (played by Jimmy) is looking for wife for his son, he came to the Fox and asking help to turn his son which named is Yuan Feng to be a normal person. This Fox who has daughter named Xiao Cui is giving her daughter to be Yuan Feng’s wife. Yuan Feng is really really care about Xiao Cui, they play together everyday. Yuan Feng’s parents are worried about their son’s future. Xiao Cui hear their conversation and she asked to her mother’s villain, Snake Demon to turn Yuen Feng to became normal man. Then Snake put a spell to Yuan Feng and turn him not only into smart person but also cruel and mean person. Yuen Feng personality totally change, he doesn’t care about Xiao Cui anymore and want to kill her mother.

Jimmy Lin plays as a person who has mental disability? At the first time I watch, that role doesn’t fit to him, because his eyes look smart, and when he became cruel one? No comment lah…..
My favorite movie of Jimmy Lin is Legendary Sibling when he plays Xiao Yu Erl / Chiang Xiau Yu.
Someone comment : Xiao Cui (Li Bing Bing) is looks like a sister to Yuan Feng (Jimmy) rather than wife, but I think that’s okay, because Xiao Cui must be a guardian to Yuen Feng.

Fourth Story : Ah Pao
The Animal Doctor, Kun Chi Cu fall in love with beautiful girl named A Pao, which under a spell by the man named Chai Shao An. When a day comes A Pao forgot everything that happened yesterday, the last day that she remember is the day when her parrot Pei Pei was injured. Everyday she mets Kun Chi Cu, fall in love and forgot it in the next following day. Until the spell was broke, Kun Chi Cu is dead because of Granny Miao’s spell. A Pao who was deeply sad because of the death of Kun Chi Cu was try to killed herself by jump into the river and saw Kun Chi Cu on the hell. They meet King of Hell and do the negotioation so they could live again.
In this part Rainie Yang play as A Pao, and Justin Yuan play as Kun Chi Chu, Kun Chi Chu has different character with Yang Kang, I think Justin plays well on both.
My Question is Why must hell ? Is there no heaven on Chinese ancient ? And this story has simirality with 50 First Date starred by Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler, we could call it the Chinese Version of 50 First Date.

Fifth Story : Xiao Xie and Qiu Lun
A man named Dao Wan San who doesn’t believe a ghost is a man with mischievois character. He want to marry his schoolmate Jiang Qiao Qiao not because he loves her but she is rich person, Qiao Qiao father doesn’t like him and didn’t want him to stay at Jiang’s house. So Dao Wan San stay at Jiang’s old house where the people says there’s a ghost who stay there. Dao Wan San meets the ghosts, at the first time he was afraid, but gradually he became good friend with them, and fall in love with the ghost named Xiao Xie.
The character of Dao Wan San which played by TAE, has simirality with the character of Xiao Yu Er on Legendary Sibling 1, TAE has killer smile, he’s so cute….many people said that he’s look likes Jimmy, maybe that because they played together at Legendary Sibling 2, many peoply also said that Jimmy also identic with Alec Su because they played together at Legendary Sibling. Well, that’s only an opinion.

The Innocent　胡各

Last Story : Xiao Cien
An innocent scholar, Yin Chen Chi meet Xiao Chien, she is a Fox Demon who works for Lao Lao, a tree Demon who needs men soul. At the past Lao Lao betrayed the Skeleton Demon to save a Demon Slayer, Yan Xi Sia. Lao Lao marrying Yan Xi Sia but they appart when Yan Xi Sia know that Lao Lao is a demon.
Yin Chen Chi is played by Hu Ge, who also play as Guo Cin at Legend of Condor Heroes 2008.
